Supporting 8th National Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Congress
- 30/03/2019
As a Gold Sponsor, GÜBRETAŞ also supported the 8th Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Congress held in Antalya on 12-15 March 2019 in cooperation with Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture and Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute (BATEM)
Deputy General Manager Mahmut Karaman received a plaque of appreciation on behalf of GÜBRETAŞ at the opening ceremony on the first day of meeting and made a presentation titled “67 Years with GÜBRETAŞ” in Agriculture Sector in the afternoon session. During the presentation Karaman explained the basic mission of GÜBRETAŞ, founded in 1952 with the aim of increasing productivity in agriculture, that is to expand conscious agricultural production. In this context, we have been a company that has prioritized social benefits and interests of farmers engaged in agriculture throughout our 67-years old history.
Mahmut Karaman, Assistant General Manager, continued his evaluations and made striking statements by addressing the conscious producer activities of GÜBRETAŞ and other scientific studies. Karaman: In addition to the new products and services brought to the sector, GÜBRETAŞ established the first soil analysis laboratory in 1985 in order to spread the soil analysis, which we see as the key point of conscious agriculture, and to guide producers in plant nutrition according to scientific methods. In 2005, we launched a very strategic project on productivity. Soil samples taken by our expert teams from the agricultural lands all over the country within Turkey Soil Productivity Map project are already started to be analysed in our laboratories in Yarımca. According to the results of these analyzes, we provided our farmers with the most suitable fertilization recipes for the land where the sample was taken, and on the other hand, we created a large data source for the agricultural sector. We have largely shaped the agricultural productivity map of Turkey by combining GPS coding samples that we receive from the lands available in a total of 11 thousand points in 81 provinces all over Turkey during the last 13 years. In this process, we have carried out an important social responsibility study by providing soil sampling and conscious plant nutrition trainings to approximately 50 thousand farmers one by one on site. ’’
Karaman continues to explain that: As GÜBRETAŞ, we develop new products aimed at improving the efficiency and quality patterns through R&D works we conduct based on data we obtain from our Soil Productivity Map of Turkey project. We have become the company with the widest product range of the sector with fertilizers specific to the region and plants. We developed nearly 20 fertilizers specific to plants and regions. One of the latest examples of these special products was the product we developed for industrial cannabis farming. said
Stating that GÜBRETAŞ provides training and consultancy services to thousands of farmers every year in order to spread the conscious agriculture, Karaman emphasized that they are constantly trying to support our farmers with the sense of responsibility given by being a pioneer in the sector. In 2018, our teams assigned on-site alone provided agricultural consultancy services to more than 30 thousand producers in more than 5,000 locations. In addition, we provide consultancy services to our farmers for conscious agriculture through technological channels such as (0850) 811 50 50 Producer Consultation Line and GÜBRETAŞ EGP (Effective Fertilization Programs) application developed for mobile devices. We also offer examples of agricultural practices for producers. In 18 different points in Turkey, we created model trial fields and gardens for 11 different basic agricultural products last year, from hazelnut to olive, from cotton to corn. In this field trial, we achieved maximum efficiency and quality of samples over the average of Turkey with optimal fertilizer consumption. We share the results with the producers and the media in the region in the field day and garden day activities that we organize during harvest. In this context, our friends also had similar plans in 2019 with the model test areas in Turkey’s 28 points. I believe we will get good results from them.”
During the three-year congress held in a different province, many academics and sector representatives from agriculture come together in order to share the innovations and developments in the field of plant nutrition and fertilization and to discuss the new results of the completed scientific researches. The congress, which will last for four days in total, is important for the future of agriculture in the world and in our country.
