GÜBRETAŞ continues to rise

GÜBRETAŞ, celebrated its 69th anniversary with the opening of the Microbiology Laboratory in Yarımca on November 6, announced the results of this year’s successful operational and financial activities on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
As of September 30, 2020, GÜBRETAŞ was able to increase its turnover, gross profit, EBITDA and net profit for the period, as well as its fertilizer sales this year.
The company maintained its rise in the third quarter of 2020 with successful results in all its activities continuing uninterruptedly, despite the adverse effects of the coronavirus epidemic on global markets. GÜBRETAŞ, one of the first 15 companies whose shares were offered to the public in Borsa Istanbul, announced the results of its operational and financial activities during the 9-month operating period of this year to the public and its financial stakeholders in KAP.
During the epidemic period, the company kept its operational activities with an increasing pace to make sure about the sustainability of agricultural production in order to ensure food supply and security in our country, and made a statement on March gave confidence to agricultural producers that there not will be any problem about chemical fertilizer supply which is one of the most important inputs of agriculture. Continuing to provide all kinds of solid and liquid-powder fertilizers needed by farmers despite the epidemic conditions in the autumn season as well as the spring season when agricultural production is the most active, GÜBRETAŞ managed to increase its sales by 10.5% as of September 30 comparing to the same period of 2019. GÜBRETAŞ produced a total of 475 thousand tons of solid and liquid and powder fertilizers in January-September period of this year in Turkey’s operations, has also increased its total sales amount to 1 million 515 thousand tons which was 1 million 371 tons in the same period of last year.
GM YUMAKLI: “WE HAVE FULFILLED OUR RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS HARD PERIOD”
GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı made an assessment about the announced third quarter results and talked about the year-end targets “2020 was a different and challenging year for the whole world specifically due to Kovid-19. In this period when new norms were formed in many areas, it became even more significant to take care of human health as well as to ensure food safety and to continue to meet nutritional needs. This process showed us once again how critical sustainability in agricultural production is for our country and humanity. We, as GÜBRETAŞ, continue to fulfill the responsibility we assumed in this difficult period successfully owing to the strong cooperation established with our main shareholder Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, as well as by our corporate experience reaching almost 69 years. The numerical indicators of this have also been reflected in the 3rd quarter results we announced on the KAP (Public Disclosure Platform) for our financial stakeholders ”.
Stating that they keep their mission to generalise good farming techniques and offer agricultural consultancy services in addition to their market leadership, during the epidemic period, İbrahim Yumaklı said, “We managed to meet the needs of both plant nutrition products and increasing agricultural consultancy request of the producers in the sector. In this way, our chemical fertilizer sales amount increased by more than 10% in the first 9 months compared to the same period of 2019, while the agricultural consultancy requests from producers to our agricultural consultancy channels increased nearly 3 times. In this process, we furthermore increased our efficiency in digital channels. Within the scope of epidemic measures, we moreover cave carried the harvest celebrations that we have been carrying out for years to digital media this year with our Youtube and social media channels”.
İbrahim Yumaklı said quantitative increase in this year’s operational activities also reflected positively in company’s financial results, stated: “Our company’s sales turnover increased to of 2.85 billion TL, while consolidated turnover reached 3.85 billion TL increasing 14% comparing to the same period last year. We fulfilled our promise to farmers with the products and services we offer. On the other hand we achieved these results that satisfied our financial stakeholders as well. In addition to the 33% increase in gross profit and EBITDA, our share of the main partnership net profit has reached to be 154 million TL“.
R&D INVESTMENTS MAINTAINED DESPITE THE PANDEMIA
Stating that they continue to make R&D projects and facility investments with the goals they set at the beginning of the year despite the global epidemic, General Manager Yumaklı said, “We completed and commissioned the first phase of the port expansion project started at Yarımca Facilities in Kocaeli for less than a year. We have also completed the installation of the solar energy (photovoltaic) system in order to meet electricity needs of our facilities in Iskenderun from environmental sources. On the other hand, we have brought the R&D Greenhouse in Gebze Technical University and the Microbiology Laboratory in Yarımca, which are one of the R&D projects we completed in the summer, to the agriculture sector with the opening ceremonies we organized in the last two weeks. In addition, our other R&D and investment activities are carried out as targeted ”.
